About the ride
Embark on a spectacular maritime tour along the scenic northern shores of Lake Erie with a route designed to capture the historic charm of Ontario's coastal hideaways. Departing from the southern edge of London at the Best Western Stoneridge Inn, you will trace a fast, efficient southward line through Elgin and Norfolk counties, heading directly toward a magnificent collection of four historic lakefront destinations.
On the outbound leg, the route carries you south where you will breeze past your first port, Port Stanley, as you transition to the coast. From there, you will navigate eastward to hit your first formal control check-in at Port Bruce, a beautifully reclined recreational and cottage haven framed by dramatic coastal bluffs. Continuing east, you will pass straight through Port Burwell on the outbound transit, keeping your momentum steady as you push to the final turnaround control point at Port Rowan. Once a bustling commercial fishing hub, Port Rowan rewards riders with spectacular, wide-open shoreline views, pleasure craft docks, and a welcoming atmosphere at the Boathouse Restaurant or Lion's Club Park.
The return journey arcs back westward across fast-rolling agricultural concessions, officially drawing you into Port Burwell for its formal control stop. Randonneurs will want to pause here to absorb some of the route's finest sights, including the expanses of Port Burwell beach, the historic wooden lighthouse, and the commanding silhouette of the cold-war era submarine, the HMS Ojibway, perfectly visible right from the route. After clearing this final port control, a reliable, steady northward path brings you straight back inland, wrapping up a memorable four-port tour exactly where your day began.
