About the Ride
The Blue Water & Black Gold Loop
The Crepe 200 offers a curated tour of Ontario's industrial and natural history. Departing Chatham, the route strikes north to meet the St. Clair River. Riders will enjoy the unique experience of the St. Clair River Parkway, where the road hugs the shoreline, offering front-row seats to the massive Great Lakes freighters navigating the international border.
As the route turns inland, it enters the historic "Black Gold" country. You’ll pedal through Petrolia—Canada's Victorian Oil Town—where the streets are lined with grand architecture funded by the 19th-century oil boom. Keep an eye out for the historic wooden "three-pole" derricks still standing in the fields around Oil Springs. This leg provides a fascinating glimpse into the birth of the global oil industry before the route turns south for a breezy, flat finish through the quiet farmlands back to Chatham.
